Celebrants in Ireland

Solemnisers registered with the HSE can legally marry you outside a church; non-legal celebrants perform a ceremony after you have signed at a registry office. Check which one you are booking. It changes your paperwork.

Common questions

Celebrants in Ireland, answered

How much do celebrants cost in Ireland?

Most Irish couples spend between €400 and €900, which is roughly 2% of a typical €37,000 wedding budget. Prices are higher in Dublin and lower in the midlands and border counties.

When should we book a wedding celebrant?

About 12 months before the wedding is normal. For a Saturday in June, July or August, book earlier. The most in-demand suppliers in Ireland are gone 18 months out for peak dates. Off-peak and midweek dates are far easier.

How do we compare celebrants properly?

Get everything in writing and compare like with like. Are you a registered solemniser on the HSE register? Will you attend our Notification of Intention to Marry appointment requirements? Ask each supplier the same set of questions and put the answers side by side. The cheapest quote is often the one with the most stripped out of it.

Do you charge couples to use WeddingServicesIreland?

No, and it is free for suppliers too. There is no listing fee, no commission and no paid placement. Ranking comes from the enquiries and reviews couples actually generate, so nobody can buy their way above a better supplier.
