How much does a wedding band cost in Ireland?

A wedding band in Ireland costs €2,833 on average, according to the weddingsonline Irish Wedding Survey 2025. It is the single biggest entertainment line, and the one guests remember, so it is worth understanding what you are paying for.

What the price includes

A wedding band quote usually covers the whole evening, not just the music:

  • Two or three live sets across the night, typically starting after the meal and speeches.
  • A DJ or playlist service between and after the sets, so the music never stops.
  • PA and lighting, sound engineer, and setup and breakdown.
  • Travel, which is why bands further from you cost more.

Ask exactly how many members are in the band. A five-piece is a fuller sound than a three-piece, and it is the main reason two quotes can differ by a thousand euro.

Band or DJ

A good DJ costs far less, often €400 to €900, and a great DJ fills a floor better than a mediocre band. The live element is what a band adds: the energy of the first set, the moment the room lifts. Many couples do both, a band for the prime hours and a DJ to close, which is already how most band packages are built.

Booking well

Book early for peak dates. The best bands for June and September Saturdays go twelve to eighteen months ahead.

See them live if you can. A showreel is edited. A wedding fair or a public gig tells you how they read a room. If you cannot, ask for unedited video of a full set.

Check the venue's sound limiter. Many Irish venues have a decibel limiter that cuts the power if the volume trips it. Tell the band which venue you are in; the experienced ones know the rooms and plan around it.

Where to save

  • A three or four-piece rather than a larger line-up, if the sound still suits your room.
  • A band that brings its own DJ service, so you are not paying two suppliers.
  • An off-peak or midweek date, when bands have availability and more flexible rates.
