How much does wedding car hire cost in Ireland?

Wedding car hire in Ireland typically costs €400 to €1,200 for the day, depending on the car, how many hours you need it, and whether a chauffeur is included. A single chauffeured vintage car for a few hours sits at the lower end. Several cars for the wedding party, or a rare classic for the whole day, push towards the top.

Most wedding car companies quote on request rather than publishing a price list, so expect to ask. The published prices below give you a benchmark before you do.

What Irish wedding car companies actually charge

CompanyAreaWhat you getPublished price
Classic and Executive CarsSlane, Co. Meath1958 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud, chauffeur driven, 4 hours, ribbons and champagnefrom €650
Courtyard Classic CarsDublinSelf-drive classic cars such as an MG, Morgan, Mercedes or Bentley, per day€395 to €595

These are two different ways of doing it. A chauffeured car takes you to the ceremony, waits for photos and brings you on to the venue. A self-drive classic is cheaper per day but someone in the wedding party has to drive it, and it suits couples who want the car for photos rather than a driver.

What is usually included

For a chauffeured wedding car, a typical booking covers:

  • The car and a uniformed driver for a set number of hours, often three to four
  • Collection from home, the ceremony, a stop for photos, and arrival at the venue
  • Ribbons, and often a bottle of bubbly

Extra hours, a second car for the bridesmaids or parents, and long distances between ceremony and venue usually cost more.

What sets the price

  • The car. A vintage Rolls-Royce or Bentley costs more than a modern Mercedes. Rare classics cost the most.
  • Hours. Most quotes are for a block of hours. A long gap between ceremony and reception adds time.
  • Distance. Travel from the company's base to your home and venue is often charged.
  • Number of cars. A second car for the wedding party is the most common add-on.
  • Day and season. Summer Saturdays are the busiest, so book early and expect less room to negotiate.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Is the price for the whole journey, including waiting time for photos?
  • How many hours are included, and what does an extra hour cost?
  • Is the driver insured to carry passengers for hire, and is the car covered for weddings?
  • What happens if the car breaks down on the day? Is there a backup car?
  • Are ribbons, flowers or drinks included, or extra?

Where to save

  • Book the car for the ceremony and arrival only, and let guest transport or family cars handle the rest.
  • Choose a modern executive car rather than a vintage one.
  • If you have a careful driver in the family, a self-drive classic can cost less than a chauffeured car.
